Desde el umbral reúne a artistas e investigadores de múltiples disciplinas que proponen estrategias para retar la separación entre la naturaleza y lo humano. Desde encuentros poéticos meditativos, modelos artísticos y científicos para establecer comunicación con animales y plantas, la investigación sobre la militarización de la naturaleza o el trabajo por la atribución de derechos a ríos, montañas y otros seres más que humanos, estas aproximaciones trabajan desde el duelo por la destrucción del planeta para intentar trazar la distancia entre el mundo natural como objeto de uso y explotación hasta la reconfiguración de su ontología más profunda.

Negociar el umbral entre lo que reconocemos como sujetos con sintiencia, conciencia, dignidad y por lo tanto derechos es una batalla histórica que ha afectado a poblaciones humanas y no humanas de maneras muy violentas y que continúa en el presente. Esta exposición intenta situarnos en ese intersticio para poner en tensión las narrativas preponderantes que nos han orillado a la crisis actual.

From the Threshold brings together artists and researchers from multiple disciplines who propose strategies to challenge the separation between nature and the human. Through poetic and meditative encounters, artistic and scientific models for establishing communication with animals and plants, research on the militarization of nature, and efforts toward granting rights to rivers, mountains, and other more-than-human beings, these approaches work from a place of mourning for the destruction of the planet in order to trace the distance between the natural world as an object of use and exploitation and the reconfiguration of its deepest ontology.

Negotiating the threshold between what we recognize as subjects endowed with sentience, consciousness, dignity, and therefore rights is a historical struggle that has affected both human and nonhuman populations in profoundly violent ways and continues into the present. This exhibition seeks to situate us within that interstice, placing dominant narratives under tension—those that have driven us toward the current crisis.
