The agenda to reach development in the digital world
is clearly multidimensional. This is the approach of the book, which addresses – in a single volume – relevant aspects that influence achieving well-being in this era of hyperconnectivity.
The volume begins by presenting a “new paradigm” for development, emphasizing the contributions of digital technology to: the modernization of the state; social development; the competitiveness of economies; the integration of countries into the global economy; and environmental management. All of this contributes to sustainable and equitable development.
The progress in digital infrastructure on the planet is analyzed. Also addressed are issues such as public policies in telecommunications, radio spectrum, artificial intelligence,
the cloud and the international governance of the sector.
The authors comment on the challenges of this new era: in particular, online security (especially that of children), misinformation, cybersecurity and privacy.
