The Economic, Growth of South Korea and Mexico
An Update Balance
In 2018,
I published a book that sought to draw a comparison between the economic development processes of South Korea and Mexico from 1960 to 2015. At that time, Mexico was a much more economically advanced country than South Korea, with its inhabitants producing nearly four times as many goods and services in terms of value. Throughout the years, the landscape underwent significant changes. South Korea emerged as one of the world’s most notable examples of economic development, and became a developed or high-income nation. Meanwhile, Mexico remained stagnant as a middle-income country.
More than five years have passed since the publication of the previously referenced book and newer findings have emerged regarding the fundamental aspects of these countries’ economies that merit review. It would be useful to explore and compare the key challenges that expert economists from both South Korea and Mexico believe their economies will face in the coming years.
