Reseña

The term Industry 4.0 (I4.0) was introduced, in 2011, at the Hannover Messe Fair, attracting the participation of academics, policymakers, and businessmen. The questions that these stakeholders ask are linked to their respective spheres of influence. Here are some examples: Is it a technological revolution or an industrial model? Can I4.0 initiatives that have been implemented in other latitudes be exported? What conditions must be met to implement an I4.0 strategy? What role do the social, and cultural play in this I4.0 strategy?

This collective work, written by 16 authors, attempts to answer these and other questions. It suggests that it is necessary not to lose sight of the interaction between technology and human beings, reviewing the formation of new skills, not only technical but also socio-emotional, in order to go beyond technological determinism. Throughout the 9 chapters that make up the book, the authors show how I4.0 has taken various paths and finds itself at different stages of development, depending on both industrial sectors and federal entities.
